U.S. tech company and Siemens subsidiary, Brightly Software, has experienced a security incident where attackers gained access to the database of its SchoolDude online platform, compromising customer personal information and credentials.
SchoolDude is a widely used cloud-based platform for managing work orders in educational institutions, serving over 7,000 colleges, universities, and K-12 schools.
The unauthorized actor obtained certain account information from the SchoolDude user database, including names, email addresses, account passwords, phone numbers, and school district names.
As a precautionary measure, Brightly Software has reset the passwords of all SchoolDude users, urging them to choose strong and unique passwords for their online accounts.
Brightly Software reported the breach to law enforcement and engaged third-party security experts to investigate the attack. The data breach has affected approximately 2,964,292 SchoolDude customers and users.
The company is taking steps to address the incident and enhance security measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
