Astral Brands, a beauty product company based in Atlanta, Georgia, disclosed a data breach that exposed the financial information of hundreds of its customers. The breach, which was discovered on March 23, 2021, dates back to September 2020.
At the same time, in a letter sent to affected customers, the company stated that the unauthorized access may have resulted in the exposure of personal information, including names, credit card and financial account numbers, passwords, PINs, dates of birth, passport, Social Security numbers, driver’s license details, and health insurance and other medical information.
At the time of writing, 1,884 customers are believed to be affected by the breach. Upon discovery of the incident, the company said it immediately took steps to contain the threat by disabling all unauthorized access to its network and restoring its systems as necessary.
It also started an investigation into the matter and worked with cybersecurity professionals to resolve the issue.
Furthermore, the company also offered free credit monitoring and identity theft protection services to affected customers. It advised customers to monitor their accounts for any suspicious activities and to contact their financial institutions or credit card companies to report any unauthorized charges.
Finally, Astral Brands is just one of several companies that have recently experienced data breaches, highlighting the need for businesses to prioritize cybersecurity measures to protect customer information from threat actors.
