Personal details of 1.5 million Zivame users, primarily women, have been found for sale online, with hackers offering the data for up to $500 in cryptocurrencies, according to India Today’s Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) team.
Furthermore, the compromised information includes names, email addresses, phone numbers, and addresses of customers. Zivame, an e-commerce retailer specializing in lingerie and fashion products for women, was targeted by the hackers. The seller provided a sample dataset of over 1,500 users to demonstrate the authenticity of the information and demanded payment in cryptocurrency.
The India Today OSINT team conducted further investigations and contacted some customers from the sample set, who confirmed their identities as Zivame users. The seller insisted on cryptocurrency payment and stressed that the data was not publicly accessible. This incident follows a series of recent data breaches in India, including the breach at furniture and electronics rental startup Rentomojo, where users received emails claiming that their data had been exfiltrated.
Additionally, in February, the ousted co-founder of BharatPe accused the company’s CEO of a data breach involving 150 million users.
As data breaches continue to pose a significant threat, it is crucial for users to remain vigilant and adopt security measures to protect their personal information.
